Math in the Real World

This project will allow you to research and discover how math is used in every day life.  You will be able to choose a project and create a multi-media slide show while exploring the following:

*      Geometry and Spatial Sense

*      Statistics and Probability

*      Patterns and Functions

*      Computation in a Real World Setting

Please choose one of the following projects.

 

Jobs

The On-Line Testing Company has hired you to design a test based on Computation in the real world.  Your job is to create at least 7 real world math problems.  These problems should reflect how math is used in every day life.  

The Great American Bicycle Company has hired you to create a sales presentation for their clients.  Their clients are local Bike Shops that purchase in bulk and sell to racing teams.   Your presentation will include scale models of the bicycles and project possible costs.

The Kansas City Planner has hired you to create a blue print of the layout of the flower bed around the St. Catherine Laboure Monument.  You will be expected to use the metric system in this multi-media presentation. 

The Boxx Company has hired you to create a mock website to display their new line of boxes.  As part of your job you will be expected to present your website to the company’s largest client, Sweet Exhibits, who purchases one million boxes a year to distribute their candy.
