Online Test Company

 Wow!  What an exciting job you have just been given!  Your school’s textbook publisher is looking into giving tests on-line as a new and innovative way to assess students.  You have been selected as a student representative to make sample questions for this committee.  As a fifth grader, what are ways that you can apply your mathematical knowledge into every day life?

An example of a possible question would be:  A mountain climber is half way up a 2,450 ft. Himalayan mountain.  How much further does he need to travel to get to the top of the mountain and back down again?

After you make the problems, download exciting pictures for each problem, and finally use one of your slides to link to an actual on-line quiz-maker site to test out your innovative ideas!  Some mathematical concepts that could be utilized include:

*    Basic operations-addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

*    Area of triangles, rectangles, and squares

*    Volume of rectangular solids and cubes

*    Operations with fractions

*    Constructing bar graphs

*    Finding the mean and/or median

*    Classification of triangles

Your presentation should be creative and original.  You are expected to add some of your own information.
