School Uniforms will be worn starting with the first day of school for
all grades. Navy blue walking shorts may be
worn thru October and again in April and May. The Used Uniform
Sale will take place during Final Enrollment and Field Day.
Physical Education Classes Grades K thru 8: All students must wear
or bring tennis shoes or rubber-soled shoes
for PE class. Girls must wear shorts under the uniform skirt
or jumper on the day they have PE. (Shorts worn
under the uniform do not have to be navy blue, however, they may
not be blue denim.)
St. Joseph Sweatshirts in navy blue, hooded or crew neck with the St.
Joseph logo may be worn as part of the
school uniform. Order forms are available at Final
Enrollment. Those sold as St. Joseph Spirit Wear are NOT part of the
school uniform.
Hairstyles for boys should be short enough so that the hair does not
touch the collar. It should be neatly trimmed and kept from hanging below
the eyebrows and over the ears. Boys may not wear beards, mustaches
or extremes in grooming such as dyed, bleached or sculptured haircuts.
School Insurance: The Archdiocese of KCK carries a secondary
student accident insurance policy for all students, effective school hours and
CYO sports. It pays expenses not covered by your primary insurance.
Yearbooks will be sold during the month of October only. Notices
will be sent home at the end of September. Yearbooks are NOT included in
the pre-enrollment fee.
Virtus training: All parents wishing to volunteer and work directly
with our school children must attend an initial Virtus training, complete
paperwork for a background check, and continue online training updates.
This includes, but not restricted to, parents wishing to serve as library
volunteers, primary grade helpers, and all field trip chaperones. You may
register for the free training at www.virtus.org.
Please contact the school office to receive the necessary paperwork after
completing the class.
St. Joseph Food Service: The cafeteria requires all students
planning to eat school lunches must pre-pay. We will NOT have family
balance information available at Final Enrollment; please prepare in
advance. Note: all balancing from the previous school year will
automatically be transferred to the next school year for your family's
account. If you need detailed information regarding your
student's lunch account, please call 913-631-0800.
Paper Recycling Program:
We have a large yellow recycling bin on the south end of the school
for papers, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, even envelopes with
windows. No cardboard or phone books please. Paper can be in
plastic bags especially if it's small pieces. Benefit the parish
and put your papers in our bin instead of your garbage.
Used Printer Toner cartridges: Our school belongs to the Rethink Ink program. For more information about the program you can go to www.rethinkink.com or www.oprausa.com for information about the company we send the cartridges to. We collect empty business or personal printer cartridges. If you know of any businesses that would give us their empty cartridges, please contact them. Please send any cartridges to the office or Mrs. Roennigke.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Every month there is a parish-wide food drive for the Catholic Charities Food Pantry. October through December the food drive is donated to the Christmas Adoption Program. Food (and/or cash) donations have steadily declined over the past several years. Won't you please pick up some non-perishable food items each month when you are grocery shopping or drop a donation in the Needy box in the church vestibule. Donations may be left in the vestibule the third Wednesday of every month either after weekend or weekday masses. Thank you for helping this worthwhile cause in reaching out to those in need.
Save Campbell's Soup labels: ALSO - save any Best Choice Labels, General Mills labels and Box Tops for Education. Please continue to save the above items for the PTO and send them to school. Thank you for your continued support. Please save and send the labels to school.
BETTY CROCKER Box Tops for Education: Continue to save the box tops and send them in regularly and they will be mailed in at the end of the school year.
PTO Can Day: Please send your aluminum cans (preferably crushed) in plastic bags marked with your child's grade level. Please send during AM drop-off time only. Cans are collected the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Students will earn a dress down day (date to be determined later) if their grade level brings in at least as many pounds as there are students in that grade. (ie. If each students brings at least 1 lb. of cans they will earn a dress down day.)
