Dear Family,
I am happy to announce that your child will be using the Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed this school year. Kan-ed (www.kan-ed.org), the statewide network for education, partnered with Learning Station to provide all Kansas schools with the Empowered Desktop, a custom web portal. The Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed provides students and teachers with applications and resources focused on making learning fun and interactive.

To access the Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed, your child has received login information that he or she can use at school, home or anywhere with Internet access. At school, your child can complete assignments and research. At home, your child can log on to further his or her knowledge of classroom topics, complete homework assignments and research school and personal interests. Parents can even get in on the fun and use their child’s login information to explore the Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed resources.

To log in to the Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed, follow these easy steps:
1. Check to be sure your computer has the necessary computer and Internet
requirements (see below).
2. Go to www.kan-ed.org.
3. Click Login near the Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed information.
4. Type your child’s login information. Your child has been given a username, subscription ID and password during class.
5. Submit this information.
6. You are ready to explore the Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed!

Connectivity: DSL or cable modem
(Note: A dial-up connection can be used. However, some applications may not run properly.)
