This web site was created using Microsoft FrontPage 2000 and Microsoft Access 97. If you have FrontPage 2000 and Access 97 or 2000, you can edit the site directly through FrontPage 2000. However, this template also lets you edit the information in your site through a web browser, so there is no need for you to have knowledge of HTML programming or web site design.
When you purchase this program, you will choose a primary and secondary color to use in the site design. Other parameters that will be set up include the Diocese name, address, phone number and webmaster email account. The colors, navigation bars and the overall design are determined by the theme as set up in FrontPage.
There are three levels of access that are set up to update information. They are System Administration, Administrator and Teacher. The access to each level is set up through Network Accounts with a user id and password that is saved in the included Microsoft Access 97 database, Passwords.mdb. Default user ids and passwords for each level are provided. You can use the Default user id and password for the System Administrator to set up additional Network Accounts for individual users with each level of access.
Most of the information in the web site is in another the Microsoft Access 97 database, DistrictWeb.mdb. See Managing Databases for more information on using the included databases. Basic configuration of the site is controlled by the System Administrator and can be accessed by clicking on the System Administration button that is found at the bottom of most pages. See Managing System Info for more information on this topic. Other aspects of the web site can be edited by Administrators or Teachers through the Web Administration menu, which can be accessed in the Administrator or Teacher sections. See Managing Site Info for more information on this topic. Certain information in the Administrator menu is restricted to viewing by those with an Administrator user id and password.
If you have FrontPage 2000 and are an experienced web designer, you can edit this site directly. You can add, edit or delete pages, images, the databases, borders, navigation or the theme. If you want to use this method, it is recommended that you set up this program on your computer and then make changes and publish it to your computer before publishing the changes to your web server. It is highly recommended that you only publish to the web server using FrontPage and not a third party FTP program. The FrontPage Server Extensions are easily corrupted by these other programs.
If you purchased this program without the Web Hosting provided by EduConnect, Inc., you will need your own web server or hosting company to set up the administration of your site.
